FAR FROM THE TREE Episode ONE

This podcast delves into the ramifications of adoption, family connection and life journeys. Far from the tree is a podcast that was inspired by a photography project created in collaboration with an adoptee from Romania to London, who you will get to hear in this first episode. This project inspired a more in depth exploration of themes or of family adoption, and the connections in this life that seem sometimes mysterious and nourishing or stifling and as tree roots we make our way through life making connections that support our existence and sense of identity. As John Berger says in his novel he is where we meet the number of lives that enter our own is in calculable, so join me to hear narratives from people that experienced the making of their identities through adoption and different forms of chosen family. The track played in the podcast is by the brilliant Ukrainian band Dhakha Brakha and it’s titled Alambari from the album of the same name and you can purchase it here fairly from the band https://dakhabrakha.bandcamp.com/album/alambari Photographs from this project can be found here: http://www.annemariebala.com/searching-for-simone
